An Overview of the Product Benefits of LIGNO® Acoustic Elements
Improves room acoustics
Many people are unaware that most indoor spaces require attention in terms of room acoustics. Yet room acoustics is an important planning consideration—not only in halls or classrooms, but everywhere, even in private living spaces. Quiet and good speech intelligibility enhance the room’s utility—not to mention the positive health benefits of noise reduction. In buildings made of LIGNO®, acoustic quality can be taken into account from the very beginning.

Surface Design
Lignotrend’s manufacturing facility specializes in producing acoustic panels and load-bearing cross-laminated timber elements with high-quality, real-wood visible surfaces. Single-layer panels made from various wood species and grades are used for the visible layers of the elements.

Ideal Panel Size
LIGNO® Acoustic panels are available in various sizes, ensuring easy installation in any application. The lightweight “home” acoustic panel variant, measuring 300 mm wide by 1,455 mm long, is particularly well-suited for small (DIY) projects. For large projects, especially those with fire-performance requirements, the “Pro” panel variant—with standard dimensions of 625 mm in width and 2,940 mm in length—is the appropriate choice.

Fire Behavior
When constructing spaces with a large capacity in accordance with the relevant regulations for public assembly venues, suspended ceilings and wall cladding must often be finished with flame-retardant surfaces. For this reason, versions of the LIGNO® Akustik light and LIGNO® Akustik Sport acoustic panels have been developed that have been tested for flame retardancy.

Fire Safety Without Compromising on Design: A Flame-Retardant Acoustic Solution
In public gathering places, such as cultural and sports centers, and in emergency exits, stricter requirements may apply to the fire performance of acoustic elements (e.g., the requirement for flame-retardant building materials). The large-format LIGNO® Akustik Pro (light) acoustic panels can be treated with a fire-retardant that is harmless to health and permanently invisible.
✓ Flame-retardant: For projects with more stringent requirements, LIGNO® acoustic elements can be configured to meet the B-s1-d0 classification according to DIN EN 13501-1.
✓ Compliance Assurance: Comprehensive technical documentation and CE marking provide planning certainty for architects and fire safety inspectors—from the design phase through the bidding process.
Custom Room Acoustics: Acoustic Elements in Accordance with DIN 18041
Every construction project has its own acoustic requirements. While a classroom or conference room should provide optimal speech intelligibility in accordance with DIN 18041—Group A, noise reduction is the primary concern in a daycare center or an open-plan office, in accordance with DIN 18041—Group B. Acoustic elements from Lignotrend can be individually configured up to sound absorption class A and thus adapted to all areas of application.
In the center section of the acoustic panels, wooden slats and absorber strips (soft wood fiber) are arranged in various patterns, perpendicular to the visible slat profile.:
_70g: Standard absorber, 70% absorber content in the middle layer.
_10g: Absorber layer with 10% absorber content for a low-absorption panel variant. Here, the core consists of solid wood with only a few stress-relief strips. Slightly increased panel weight.
To effectively extend sound absorption into the low-frequency range, the cavity can be enlarged and additionally filled with soft wood fiber or mineral wool.
The room acoustics for various uses can be predicted using the › free room acoustics calculator.
Flexible installation: Acoustic panels for walls and ceilings
LIGNO® Akustik Pro can be installed as both sound-absorbing ceiling and wall paneling. › Learn more about installation. The LIGNO® Akustik Sport version is specifically designed for sports arenas—it is ball-impact-resistant and energy-dissipating. Additionally, the real wood panels can be configured as suspended ceiling panels or grid ceilings.
Suspended ceilings
e.g., under wooden or concrete structures.
Wall paneling
even on masonry or concrete.
Acoustic panels
as acoustic sails suspended freely in the room.
Grid Ceiling
as pre-cut panels for installation.

Installation locations: Structures that are enclosed on all sides and heated, as well as covered, open structures; elements not exposed to the elements (Service Class 0 according to DIN 68800 / Service Classes 1 and 2 according to Eurocode 5 when wood moisture content is less than 20 percent).
Exceptionally dimensionally stable: LIGNO® Acoustic Pro (light), based on the cross-laminated timber principle
LIGNO® Akustik Pro consists of three layers:
On the Front side Cutting slits into the first layer creates a slatted look; when installed properly, the cladding is resistant to ball impacts.
The central location (Cross-ply) is oriented at a right angle to the top ply, thereby ensuring high dimensional stability.
Acoustic absorbers are also integrated here.
The rear layer is formed by at least four strips that run lengthwise.
Panel dimensions: L: 2940 x W: 625 x H: 33 mm
Customizable real wood finishes
The visible side of LIGNO® Pro panels is available in various wood species, depending on fire performance and surface design requirements. In particular, the popular “Weißtanne lebhaft” (vibrant silver fir) is available in a flame-retardant version rated _B-s2-d0 in accordance with ETA-21/0360 and is also natureplus®-certified. Order a free silver fir design sample.

Silver fir, knot-free, lively
_WTL (lively)
The “lively” grade is the most common; in this grade, the grain and color of the knot-free sections of wood vary significantly.

Knot-free silver fir, economy
_WTE (Economy)
For this lower-priced grade, irregularities in the nearly knot-free surface are permitted; many viewers do not find these at all objectionable (e.g., individual longitudinal cracks and isolated small knots).

Knot-free silver fir, plain
_WTS (plain)
This simple grade with a finer grain is something truly special, because only a small quantity of wood strips—which have a much more consistent color—can be obtained from the logs.

Knot-free oak, plain
_EI
When it comes to hardwoods, sturdy oak—processed to be knot-free—is particularly on-trend in interior design.

Vigorous Spruce
_FIL
The surface quality “Knot-free, lively spruce” is comparable to the _WTL grade but has even less variation. This results in a very uniform appearance. The single-layer panels used for the visible surface _FIL are made from knot-free spruce sections.

Knot-free European beech
_BU
Hardwood decorative surface made from knot-free beech wood sections with a distinctive grain. Appearance featuring varying degrees of light variation.
