Why are wooden acoustic panels the best choice?
Genuine wood from the Black Forest – no MDF, no decorative film, no synthetic felt
Solid wood is a pure, natural product sawn directly from the trunk. Rather than anonymous imported goods, we prioritise traceable origins, regional processing and visible, robust wood quality. The wood used for our acoustic panels comes predominantly from sustainable forestry with PEFC chain-of-custody certification (HW-PEFC-CoC-0336-25). We source our favourite wood – silver fir – from local forests within a radius of no more than 200 km. It is even processed into the finished product at our own sawmill.
Every panel embodies our experience gained over two decades as a cross-laminated timber manufacturer and room acoustics expert.
Dimensionally stable thanks to cross-glued solid wood
Wood naturally reacts to humidity. The design of an acoustic panel is therefore crucial. LIGNO® acoustic panels are manufactured using the cross-laminated timber principle: several layers of wood are glued together in a criss-cross pattern. This ensures that the panels remain particularly dimensionally stable – even when humidity levels fluctuate. For this reason, Lignotrend’s solid wood acoustic panels are even suitable for use in damp rooms.
Complies fully with building biology standards – natureplus and IBR certified
Large-scale wall cladding has a significant impact on the indoor environment. Anyone who values healthy building materials in their own home should also take a close look at large-scale wooden wall cladding and acoustic ceilings. LIGNO® Acoustic Panels Pro (fir/spruce) have been tested and certified as safe for health in accordance with the criteria of the natureplus® Guideline 0211, in contrast to standard panel variants with felt, which may emit harmful substances depending on their manufacture and origin.
Wooden acoustic wall: Why real wood is the better choice here
When rooms echo, conversations become tiring or noises linger unpleasantly, you need a solution that works in everyday life and proves its worth in the long term: wall-mounted sound absorbers are available in various qualities. The most common models are made of veneered MDF with a backing of synthetic polyester felt, which often cannot withstand the rigours of everyday use over the long term.
LIGNO® acoustic panels, on the other hand, are made from robust solid wood. They withstand knocks well, are easy to clean and retain their natural beauty for years to come.
Effective room acoustics across a wide frequency range
Simple decorative panels are usually stuck directly onto the wall. LIGNO® Acoustic is a sophisticated system that absorbs up to 90 per cent of incident sound and significantly reduces unwanted reverberation. The following audio examples demonstrate the extent to which the acoustics of a typical living and dining area change before and after the installation of acoustic panels.
Language: A room without acoustic panels
Sound example for a room with a floor area of approx. 60 m²
Standard design with plaster on the walls and ceiling, a hard
floor, no carpet and furniture with low sound absorption
(reverberation time approx. 1.0 sec).
Language: Room with acoustic panels
Sound sample for the same room after installation of
sound-absorbing ceiling cladding
(reverberation time approx. 0.4 sec).
Calm, authentic, timeless: acoustic panels made from solid wood
LIGNO® acoustic panels are suitable for walls and ceilings and bring the natural beauty of real wood to living rooms, bathrooms and open-plan dining areas.
