ROOF CONSTRUCTIONS
made of LIGNO®
Timber construction planners are one step ahead in roof construction with cross-laminated timber box elements: The configurable roof elements are simply placed on the hall binders or walls and the surfaces are instantly ready on the inside, even with an acoustic absorber.
Finishing work included
Real wood soffit on load-bearing roof element
A significant acceleration in construction plus cost savings are mainly achieved by the minimisation of overhead finishing work due to the element soffit, which is already finished ex works. Suspended ceilings, for instance for room acoustics, are not necessary if use is made of the option to also have acoustic profiles and absorbers as well as pipes and cables integrated in the load-bearing element during production. The room acoustics are thus already solved cost-effectively during the building shell construction of sport halls and other large-volume rooms.
Many advantages in timber construction with multifunctional components
Roof element configuration options
With many different types of wood and various profiles for the soffit of the LIGNO® roof element, planners can make very characteristic, individual design statements.
Acoustic profiles and absorbers can be integrated in the roof component ex works. The installation of suspended ceilings is then unnecessary, as is the work and cost for room scaffolding in the case of high rooms.
Roof components are prepared ready for installation in the factory by CNC binding and pre-assembled in elements of up to 2.50 m in width and 18 m in length – the roof surface is accordingly quickly installed, sealed and protected against the weather.
Lignotrend roof elements can be configured for a fire resistance of up to REI 90. Thanks to the finished soffit, suspended acoustic ceilings are unnecessary; flame-retardant additional solutions are superfluous in assembly rooms.
Whether in pitched or flat roofs, large or small: Buildings of all kinds can be roofed with the laminar Lignotrend roof elements without supplementary stiffening – with free span widths of up to 18 m according to the load, without additional interior finishing.
Building services pipes and cables can be installed in the cavities of the LIGNO® Block Q3 box element and openings prepared for the lighting ex works. That saves costs.

Product properties of the roof elements
Statics
Lignotrend optimises structural load-bearing cross-laminated timber as web and box elements. This uses the valuable timber material efficiently and in a resource-saving manner, depending on the demands, when used as ceiling, roof support structure or in wall components efficiently. Height or thickness of the elements are adjusted to the static conditions in the context of the design.

Fire protection
Multi-storey buildings of building class 4 or 5 require a high fire resistance, while assembly rooms require fire-retardant surfaces. The layered structure of LIGNO® cross-laminated timber makes it possible to react flexibly to these requirements by equipping the element body as necessary with additional fire protection layers or pre-treated visible layers.

Ease of installation
With LIGNO® wall, ceiling and roof elements, optimising with cavities facilitates a rapid and simple installation process within the cross-section. Compared to entirely solid timber components, the installation layout with LIGNO® BSP is also much more flexible and subsequently modifiable – for example when changing the use of rooms.
Ease of installation
Longitudinal and transverse installation
Easy to install
Due to the fast assembly time on the building site that results from the high degree of prefabrication, the construction progress is significantly less influenced by the weather. If, when using roof elements, the lower seal acting as an "emergency roof" is applied immediately after installing the first load-bearing elements, the roof is immediately rainproof.

Design variety
The Lignotrend production department specialises in producing acoustic panels and load-bearing cross-laminated timber elements with high-quality visible surfaces in real wood. From aesthetic knotless to naturally knotty: For the one-ply-panels of the visible surfaces, Lignotrend processes various types and grades of as-grown timber.

Room acoustics
Many people are not aware that in most interiors action with regard to the room acoustics is needed. Indeed, room acoustics is important in the planning – and not only in halls or classrooms, but everywhere, even in the private dwelling environment. Quiet and good speech intelligibility increase the practical value of the room – quite apart from the positive health effect of noise reduction. In buildings made of LIGNO®, acoustic quality can be taken into account from the start.

Precision
Building component surfaces must be dimensionally stable in order to effectively exclude movements of the building structure and thus deformations and leaks. For this reason, Lignotrend elements are constructed from wooden layers arranged crosswise and laid at intervals - to form rigid, precise cross laminated timber.
